Principal's Message

Dear HAPA Families,

This has been a unique time in education, and we are so grateful that you have selected Harvard Avenue Performance Academy to collaborate with for your child’s education.  We are currently offering both, in person and virtual instruction to meet the academic needs of all students in Cleveland and the Greater Cleveland area.

We focus on building character through our Character Education Program. These traits include positive attitude, integrity, respect, work ethic, responsibility, and teamwork. It is our hope that every individual connected to HAPA implements these traits throughout the school year, and beyond. The theme also supports our mission statement, which stresses the value of academics, as well as lifelong health and fitness through the discipline of tennis, soccer, and martial arts.

Our virtual learners begin their day at 8:00 am with instruction in ELA, Math, Social Studies, Science, and Fitness.  Our virtual program has been designed for students to spend time with direct instruction from our teachers as well as they will have an opportunity to complete work in our many online platforms.  All of our online platforms support the Ohio State Standards as well as provide our students with an academic structure that will help prepare them to be competitive in 21st Century academia. Every HAPA student will be assigned a Chromebook, to ensure they have the tools needed to access all virtual learning environments.   In addition, to our strong virtual academic program, we also provide Grab and Go Meals for all of our virtual students.

For in person learners, the school doors open daily at 7:50 AM and Breakfast will be served until 8:05 AM. Students will be marked tardy after 8:10 AM. If a student is late, a parent needs to come into the office to sign them in. Parents should drive around the building to drop off and pick up their children by the southwest door of the school. Students should never be left outside before 7:50 am unattended.  Walkers should enter the front door of the building at 7:50 am.  Pick up will begin at 3:40 PM and conclude at 4:00 PM. Busses will arrive to the school at 3:30 PM and load by the gym doors, while parents will drive around the building for students to be called over announcements. Please make sure your student’s nametag is visible on the dash to increase efficiency. Walkers will be released at 4:00PM from the office (forms must be on file). If your student is changing their method of transportation for the day, a written request is required to the front office prior to 2:00PM.

If you have any questions please contact our office at (216) 283-5100. You may also choose to stop into the office weekdays between 8:00Am and 3:30PM. As a reminder when reporting student absences, all absences need to be reported by 9:00 AM by calling and leaving a message or speaking to Ms. James or Ms. Smith.

Of behalf of the Harvard Avenue Performance Academies staff, welcome to HAPA.  We are excited about all of the positive things this year will hold for your students!
